Job Description: JOB SUMMARY:, The primary role of the Manager of Aquatics is to ensure day-to-day success of the Aquatics Department operations. The position is responsible for the development, implementation, and promotion of safe services to all pool patrons based on community need, while actively striving to meet service demand and organizational needs., DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:, 1. Service and Operations Management a. Coordinate and oversee day-to-day operations of swim/exercise services to include scheduling/coverage, staffing, registration, and general pool operations., b. Responsible for the safe operations of the aquatics area including an understanding of state and local operations standards, general pool operations, locker room flow and safety, pool deck safety, staff training requirements, special needs patron coordination, etc., c. Develop and monitor a flexible service and class schedule that maintains classes at a minimum number of fully paid participants., d. Responsible for filling in for any Aquatic staff duties (instructing, life guarding, etc.) when needed., 2. Service/Business Development a. Work with CP management and administration to understand community need as it relates to warm water Aquatic services and when appropriate, develop & implement Aquatic opportunities to meet the identified needs., b. In coordination with CP administration and management develop promotional and marketing ideas for the Aquatics area., c. Understand the competition for Aquatic services and be proactive in attempts to stay ahead of the competition., d. Establish relationships, maintain contact, and actively engage community organizations, business, and groups to build referral and business activity., 3. Customer Service – Provide superior customer service to all internal and external customers, and create an inviting, engaging, and positive atmosphere to ensure customer satisfaction., 4. Leadership - Provide leadership to Aquatics staff (instructors, lifeguards, etc.), to include hiring, training, providing performance feedback, etc., promote and support needed change as it presents itself, develop staff schedules that promote flexibility, identify and implement cross-training opportunities, coordinate volunteers (scheduling & training) with Volunteer Coordinator, plan staff meetings, and approve time sheets.

Education Required: 1. High School diploma or equivalency required. Bachelor’s degree in physical education, adaptive physical education, or related degree preferred., 2. Certifications required upon hire or to be obtained within a negotiated period of time after hire: lifeguard certification, water safety instructor certification, CPR, First Aid, AED, Certified Pool Operator Certification, Arthritis, etc., 3. Knowledge of fitness programs and safe exercise techniques with an emphasis on aquatics exercise.
Experience Required: 2-5 years previous experience in an aquatics environment, including instructor and supervisory experience, required.
