Job Description: * The Executive Director oversees the operation of the Weidner Center for the Performing Arts. * Provides vision and leadership in all facets of the Center's operations, programming and management. * Balances a highly complex set of duties and relationships that blend aggressive entrepreneurship, artistic leadership, community relations and strong financial management. * Oversees planning, negotiating and managing of an ambitious schedule of events that attracts a broad level of public interest and support. * Works to assure a base of programming that is necessary to financially support the cost of operating the Center, while also developing enrichment programming that may require limited underwriting. * Works to develop and foster relationships with the University community. * Assures that staff and volunteers are committed to providing a high level of services that nurtures loyalty and support for the Center. * Works to assure that the Center's programming stands out in an increasingly crowded marketplace. * Encourages aggressive and cost effective marketing and communication programs that maximize revenues and public support. * Interacts with the various constituencies of northeastern Wisconsin. * Cultivates the interest and financial support of donors whose contributions are required to underwrite the Center's operations, as well as major projects and initiatives. * Persuasively articulates both short- and long-term goals for the organization. * Leads and motivates a talented staff who are responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Center, including programming, marketing, education, fund raising, facility operations, finance, ticketing, community and campus relations, long range planning and facility development.

Base Pay: Competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Other Pay: The UW System provides an excellent benefits package including participation in the Wisconsin State retirement plan.
Education Required: REQUIRED: * A Bachelor's Degree in one of the performing arts, arts administration or other relevant field. * A minimum of five years arts administrative experience as Director or in a senior position of a comparable arts facility with a heavy production schedule. This experience must include operational and fiscal management, programming, marketing and fundraising experience or its equivalent. * Strong management and interpersonal skills. * Experience in dealing with community, regional and national arts organizations and boards. * Interest and successful track record in patron development. * Ability to project a vision that incorporates high artistic standards. * Strong commitment to honesty and ethical business practices. * Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Experience Required: PREFERRED: * A Master's or terminal degree preferred in one of the performing arts, arts administration or other relevant field. * Ability to think independently and solve problems creatively. * Ability to efficiently juggle many overlapping interests, assignments, schedules, personalities, and responsibilities with tact, good humor, and personal empathy. * Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications. * Experience in a higher education setting.
