Job Description: POSITION DESCRIPTION:, Assist in the operation and maintenance of campus boilers. Work independently and with other trades personnel to complete work orders related to boilers, electrical, mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, and all other trades areas depending upon abilities, past training, and certifications., DUTIES:, 1. Maintenance and operation of steam boilers., 2. Assist with cleaning and repair of boiler house related equipment., 3. Timely completion and tracking of assigned work orders., 4. Efficient and effective communication with supervisor, other tradesmen, staff, and customers, 5. Work as a team member and as a team leader on projects and work orders. 6. Assist in other maintenance areas on an assignment basis., 7. Oversee and supervise work done by student workers when they are assigned to your area., 8. Follow safe work practices and immediately report injuries and damages., 9. Must be able to read and follow directions related to safe equipment operation, chemical usage, and proper use of personal protective equipment., 10. Other duties as assigned., WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:, Will work collaboratively with all members of the Facilities staff and occupants of the various University buildings where work is being performed. Must be able provide excellent customer service to all members of the campus community. Must be able to respond to and work with students, faculty, and staff in a professional and courteous manner. Must be able to work independently and with team members., KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:, Must have a valid drivers license and a good driving record. Must be able to climb and work on a ladder or lift. Ability to operate powered hand tools. Previous trades experience in a professional setting. Self starter who can complete assigned projects without supervision. Must be able to communicate effectively with workers and staff. Ability to read and follow oral or written instructions. General math skills. Excellent work attendance. Basic computer skills and the ability to learn and use a computer including e-mail and online work orders or instructions. EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS: Must have successful completion of criminal record check, pre-employment physical and pre-work screen, driving record check (where applicable) and reference checks. Must have valid Wisconsin Drivers License and must be able to pass the requirements to be a Lawrence University Driver and must complete campus drivers training. Must have a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
