Job Description: The City of Green Bay has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Wildlife Sanctuary Director at the Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary (WLS) division of the Parks, Recreation & Forestry department., The successful candidate will possess effective project management skills with the ability to unite people into a successful team. The individual will have the necessary qualifications to grow educational programs, schedule staff, and assist with the budget for the WLS., •Excellent benefit package. •Residency within Green Bay corporate City limits will be required within one year of employment., •Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; 8:00am - 5:00pm plus one weekend per month rotation, some holidays and evening hours to attend special events and programs., Develops plans for educational opportunities around work assignments and changes to facilities and programs as dictated by current needs, strategic plan and master plan. This includes landscaping, deer and goose management, waterfowl banding, researching and conducting census of wildlife vegetation. Develops strong volunteer education program in areas of responsibility., Supervises site maintenance employees and volunteers, including assigning and scheduling work, hiring, training and performance evaluations. Responsible for supervision of payroll completion and requisition of maintenance supplies. Assists in budget preparation, grant writing and site reports in area of responsibility., Directs and coordinates site maintenance staff and volunteers in maintenance of buildings, grounds, and related programs. Works with Curator and Head Naturalist regarding maintenance needs in their respective areas., Coordinates and maintains professional activities, communications and correspondence with state, county and local agencies, including other sanctuaries, nature centers, groups and clubs of similar interests. Serves as a resource person to community.Performs other duties as assigned. Considerable knowledge of project management, including, scheduling, budgeting, etc. Good knowledge of the principles and practices of wildlife habitat management, including invasive species control. Good knowledge of the principles and practices of supervision of project staff and volunteers. Good knowledge of biological principles and practices. Familiarity in working with wild animals., Good skills in customer relations, working with the general public and volunteers both in verbal and written communications. Ability to prepare year-end reports required to maintain licenses and permits. Ability to research training topics, prepare presentations and present materials to various age groups. Ability to utilize a computer and the required software including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint. Ability to work well as part of team as well as independently. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the public. Ability to work the required hours of the position., May be required to demonstrate minimum competency by successfully passing approved tests.
