Job Description: Under guidance of WIC Director/Project Nutritionist, provides nutrition education to participants, including food package selection and secondary contact., Under guidance of WIC Director/Project Nutritionist, certifies and enrolls participants., Performs health assessment, including analyzing and interpreting height/weight, hemoglobin, lead and appropriate health counseling for participants., Evaluates WIC participants’ food intake; discusses with participant or parent and identifies areas that need improvement and/or change, provides strategies for improving nutrition and sets up time table to review these., Works cooperatively with other nutrition and health services in the area and makes referrals to other community organizations or physician, as needed. Performs various tasks on WIC computer including intake, draft issuance, participant input and report creation., Assists clerical staff with client applications, scheduling appointments, answering phone, etc., Conducts group education sessions (i.e. infant feeding, breastfeeding) for WIC participants, as needed., Other duties as assigned by WIC Director/Project Nutritionist., It is unlikely an employee will perform all the duties listed on a regular basis, nor is the list exhaustive in the sense it covers all the duties an employee may be required to perform.
