Job Description: This is for second or third shift. Lays out, machines, fits, assembles, and finishes stamping dies, gages and fixtures by performing the following duties:, •Study blueprints of dies and part prints, die models, templates, and prototype parts and visualizes shape, mechanical structure, and operation of die. Ability to find design flaws prior to tool build and correct them accordingly. •Compute dimensions, plans machining operations, layout, and assembly operations. Construct tooling without blueprints from a Tool Designer, and capable of working independently with no managerial supervision. •Able to use machining software programs to use or construct CAD data to build tool paths for CNC machining, •Capable of reading resultant “G-Code" to ensure quality results after machining •Set up and operate machine tools such as saws, lathes, milling machines, radial drill presses, shapers, welders and punch grinders to machine parts to specifications and verifies conformance of machined parts to specifications, •Skill to program and operate CNC mills and lathes, as well as Wire EDM machines at a high skill level •Measure, mark, and scribe metal stock for machining by other workers •Lift machined parts and position them for assembly on worktable or surface plate •Verify dimensions, clearances, and alignment of members and parts in die. •Problem solving and trouble-shooting skills in relation to all types of tooling •Able to go to the production floor and accurately troubleshoot problems with stamping tooling and fixtures, make recommendations, and act on the recommendations •Work to tolerances as close as .0001 •Fit and assemble cam operated mechanisms for lateral movement of part of die •Connect wiring and hydraulic lines to install electric and hydraulic components •Dismantle die and repairs or replace parts SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES, This person may be asked to perform limited supervisory duties on occasion. Parts ordering may be required.
