INDUSTRY SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS
The preferred candidate will have qualifications in some or all of the following marine electrical, mechanical and welding construction areas:
• Vast knowledge of shipyard terminology/orientation.
• Maritime/shipbuilding industry experience with a strong working knowledge of maritime/shipbuilding construction practices and methods.
• Must have knowledge and familiarity of ABS American Bureau of Rules: Steel Vessel Rules, Rules of Building and Classing Aluminum Vessels, Guide for Building and Classing High Speed Naval Craft.
• Must have knowledge and familiarity with IEEE Std. 45 recommended Practice for Electrical Installation shipboard.
• Knowledge and familiarity of CFR-46 Code of Federal regulations, Subchapter J Electrical Engineering.
• Knowledge of and familiarity with Mil-Std-2003A Dept. of Defense Standard Practice Electrical Plant Installations Standard Methods for Surface Ships and Submarines.
• Experience repairing and maintaining mechanical equipment, servicing, repairing, adjusting, and testing machines, devices, moving parts, and equipment that operates primarily on the basis of mechanical principles.
• Knowledge of and familiarity with Naval Fabrication Documents – Welder – Structural and Pipe systems, ABS Surface Ship and MMC Workmanship documents.
• Perform welds with a variety of processes, i.e. SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, GTAW
• Recognized Welding Certifications preferred, such as Certified Weld Inspector (CWI), Certified Welding Educator (CWE), and ASNT SNT-TC-1A Level 3.
• Willingness to investigate, adapt, and implement new technologies as market demand changes.
• Metallurgy experience preferred.

Job Description: GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES, • Responsible for managing the instructional process, associated curriculum review and development and student advising within the area of instruction. • Provide educational leadership and work effectively with applicable advisory committees, community groups, faculty, administration, maritime organizations, and campus support staff including workplace learning services to perform contract work. • Respond to emergency situations as needed and/or assigned for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns. • Request equipment and supplies for the purpose of maintaining inventory and ensuring availability of required items and monitor budget expenditures.

Education Required: • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college and two years of successful, directly related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and work experience (i.e. Journey worker level electrician or welder with marine experience).
Experience Required: • Must be eligible for certification under the Administrative Code of the Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS)., • Previous teaching experience with adult learners is desirable., • Ability to assist students with a variety of technical course material in an open, self-directed, instructor assisted manufacturing technology environment., • Ability to work in a team environment., • Ability to work non-standard hours including evenings and weekends
