POSITION NUMBER: A355 START DATE: September 17, 2012 ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Instructional Technologist plays a key role in the Adult Degree Program's efforts to develop, deliver, and support online and hybrid courses. This individual works with faculty, staff, and students, providing pedagogical consultation, instructional design support, software instruction, and individual support needed to develop, maintain, and administer high quality courses. * Support the administration of the course management system (Desire2Learn) for the Division of Outreach and Adult Access and the University overall. * Provide training to faculty, staff, and students on the use of Desire2Learn and other appropriate applications and technologies used in distance learning. * Monitor and assess faculty and student satisfaction regarding the instructional effectiveness of current course designs, materials, and teaching strategies. * Create and update existing documentation. * Keep informed of current trends in instructional design and technology and participate in educational technology committees at institutional and UW-System levels.

Education Required: REQUIRED: * Bachelor's degree * Demonstrated technical writing skills * Demonstrated customer service orientation and commitment to providing high quality service and support to faculty, staff and students * Experience supporting instructional technology * Strong organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to work with multiple audiences and manage and complete complex tasks * Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills * Knowledge of Windows and Macintosh platforms and familiarity with productivity software applications
Experience Required: PREFERRED: * Bachelor's degree in instructional design, educational technology, or related field * Master's degree in instructional design, educational technology, or a related field * Two years of experience in technology support in an educational setting administering a course management system (Dersire2Learn preferred) * Understanding and appreciation of the needs of returning adult students and adult education * Training and/or teaching experience in higher education * Experience with digitized audio and video technologies
