Job Description: Job Objectives: The Certified Nursing Assistant provides residents nursing care involving activities of daily living such as personal hygiene, eating and dressing., ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS, The Certified Nursing Assistant:, 1.Completes work assignments of resident care, based on interdisciplinary care plan to promote functional independence, including resident hygiene, grooming, eating, toileting, mobility, and bed making. Resident condition can range from completely ambulatory to semi-ambulatory to comatose, and can change daily. Is subject to frequent interruptions. Is subject to falls, burns from equipment, odors, etc., throughout the work day., 2.Accurately documents all care given to residents, including completion of cares outlined on interdisciplinary care plan, intake and output, temperature, weight and height, pulse and respiration, using approved abbreviations, and using designated methods., 3.Responds to emergency and/or life threatening situations and provides whatever, assistance is required., 4.Assists in resident admission and discharge procedures, including inventory, labeling and packing or unpacking of residents possessions., 5.Maintains resident confidentiality and privacy., 6.Attends and participates in facility, and departmental staff meetings and inservice educational programs. Must be willing to seek out new methods and principles, and be willing to incorporate them into existing practice. Completes a minimum of 12 hours of inservice training annually., 7.Communicates observed changes in resident conditions to Charge Nurse., 8.Follows State and Federal regulations as outlined in Good Shepherd Services policies and procedures for resident care., 9.Assists residents in other capacities, as needed., 10.Utilizes various equipment, such as beds, scales, lifts, tubs, to facilitate care outlined on interdisciplinary care plan in a safe and accurate manner., 11.Maintains clean environment, using universal precautions or other measures outlined by interdisciplinary care plan, to prevent the spread of infections., 12.Demonstrates ability to work effectively as a member of the team providing resident cares., 13.Reports to the Licensed Nurse., 14.Is involved with residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc., some of whom may be hostile or emotionally upset. Deals tactfully with them., 15.Communicates with nursing personnel and other department personnel., 16.Works beyond normal working hours, on weekends and holidays, and in other positions temporarily when necessary., positions temporarily when necessary., 17.Must possess the ability and willingness to work harmoniously with professional and nonprofessional personnel., 18.Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm, as well as, the willingness to handle difficult residents., 19.Maintains Good Shepherd Services Core Values., 20.
