Job Description: The Financial Specialist 2 in the Bursar’s Office is primarily responsible for the disbursement, return and reconciliation of financial aid from government and private sources. This position provides direct customer service to students, parents and other third party funding sources. In addition, this position is responsible for auditing, analyzing and coding requests for Agency and Contingent Account funds. This position will also process refund checks and supervise the disbursement of short-term loans., Qualifications:, • Working knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping concepts and math skills., • Computer proficiency with the ability to use specialized software packages, spreadsheet and word processing (i.e. PeopleSoft, MS Outlook, MS Excel, MS Word, QuickBooks)., • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability and desire to work with a diverse customer base., • Excellent organization, attention to detail and time management skills. • Excellent written and oral communication skills to allow expression/presentation of information in a clear, complete and concise manner., • Ability to work independently and as a collaborative team member., • Ability to operate office machines (i.e. ten key calculator, fax, copier, scanner)., • Ability to follow directions., • Good work habits, such as attendance, punctuality, accountability, thoroughness, and resourcefulness., • Proper telephone etiquette., • Identify and recommend process improvements as needed., • Ability to manage multiple priorities., Conditions of Appointment:, Employment will require a criminal background check. A pending criminal charge or conviction will not necessarily disqualify an applicant.
