Job Description: This position provides support for users of computer technology and the campus-wide computer network. The person in this position is primarily responsible for keeping an up to date inventory all computer assets on campus along with planning, scheduling, and coordinating computer replacement during our annual summer rollout. In addition, this position assists with image development, creating login and logoff scripts, as well as providing advanced support to specialty applications as needed. This position also helps staff the CIT help desk to offer quality assistance, education, and training to all campus users. This is accomplished by serving as a technician at the help desk, working in the field to solve user problems, conducting on-site training as needed, and mentoring help desk student staff. This position implements standard and specialty campus computer applications, support network operations, and provide necessary documentation., Conditions of Appointment:, Employment will require a criminal background check. A pending criminal charge or conviction will not necessarily disqualify an applicant. In compliance with the Wisconsin Fair Employment Act, the University does not discriminate on the basis of arrest or conviction record. A six-month probationary period will be required. The work hours of this position are 7:45 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Experience Required: • Knowledge of all current Windows operating systems, including the ability to install, maintain, and troubleshoot system problems, application problems, and networking problems. Knowledge of Active Directory and Windows network account and share management., • Knowledge of the Macintosh computer and operating system, including the ability to troubleshoot system problems, networking problems, application problems, etc. • Experience managing computer assets on a large scale and creating and implementing replacement plans., • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook), • Scripting experience. Knowledge of C#, Windows Scripting Host, VBA, VBscript, HTA and Windows PowerShell., • Experience working at a help desk and providing second-level support in the field. Experience in an educational setting preferred., • Experience training and supervising student employees., • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required. Ability to produce comprehensible documentation for users with varying technical backgrounds.
