Job Description: Shift Maintenance Mechanics are responsible for following preventative and predictive programs as well as reactive maintenance necessary to ensure plant efficiencies and operations. Job duties will include, but are not limited to, the following: Primary Function: Help ensure production needs are met with regards to quality, GMP, and safety. Respond promptly to maintenance cell phone calls. Works with and communicates with the Coordinators to ensure a smooth operation from shift to shift. Ensures only quality product is going into the package. Reports to appropriate supervisors, matters of significance concerning departmental functions and recommends corrective actions where required. Act on work orders as assigned by supervisor and creates reactive work orders. Utilizes the E1 system, tracking all parts and labor. Performs all duties in a safety and efficient manner Promotes a positive team working environment Makes sure the required paperwork is filled out at close of shift Places comments as needed on daily shift reports (reactive maintenance) Secondary Function: Responsible to adhere to quality system requirements. Performs other duties as assigned. Understands the plant’s commitment to customers’ quality expectations Assist co-workers as necessary to achieve an efficient operation Maintain good housekeeping and GMP Standards in your work area Manual cleaning, and placement of Sanitation Tags satisfying Sanitation Standard when necessary Keep log of personal achievements including but not limited to training through technical trade schools and review with supervisor on quarterly basis. Safety Responsibility: Use proper lifting techniques when performing Maintenance job. Follow plant safety rules and procedures. The Maintenance job will need to follow lock out/tag out and chemical handling requirements on necessary days Individual is required to perform all duties safely and to use discretion to prevent injuries Attend annual safety refresher training courses 7 Physical Responsibility: Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds on a regular basis and periodically up to 80 pounds and have the manual dexterity to handle equipment and machines The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the continuing operation of the plant. When doing maintenance some of the equipment is greater than 50 pounds. Must be able to bend, twist, turn, pull, stoop, and lift when: 1. Handling packaging and cheese materials, machines and equipment. Must be able to work in a hot environment. Must be able to work with hearing protection in place in areas that it is required. Interpersonal / Organizational Responsibilities: Must be able to follow to follow written methods, paying close attention to details. Must be able to follow specific work direction and work orders and adjust as necessary to accomplish the job. Must be able to maintain legible and accurate records/paperwork as required. Must have communication skills to properly explain equipment or product quality issues to Maintenance Supervisor or other Production personnel. Must also have the skills to communicate with other team members at shift handoffs, R&D, engineering, quality assurance, and management. Must be willing to learn new skills and techniques for success. Qualifications (Minimum Requirements): Must have successfully completed a mechanical aptitude test from a specified technical school. Must have knowledge of OSHA safety standards. Must have basic welding and electrical skills. Must have a high school diploma or GED Must be able to make USDA approved sanitary welds. Have the electrical and mechanical skills to run a shift. Handle the emergency shut down of utilities: gas, water, steam, air, electrical, ammonia, and freon refrigerants. Be able to operate torch and plasma covers. Have strong pipe fitting skills. Have operational knowledge of the boilers and refrigeration. Keep a log of personal achievements that include but are not limited to training through technical trade schools, and review the log with a supervisor on a quarterly basis. Must have the ability to run various computer applications (E1) that apply to our business, including but not limited to Process Computers, and etc. Problem-solving ability. Possess forklift safety qualifications. Must be able to do mathematical calculations. Supply own pouch and hand tools
