Job Description: The Mechanical Project Engineers function is to manage and supervise all resources assigned by the Director of Estimating and Planning and as mutually deemed appropriate to support the project. In fulfilling this function the Mechanical Project Engineer is to determine the mechanical technical requirements of the project across all Engineering disciplines. They are to determine the Outsourced Engineering Firm’s manpower requirements needed to meet project schedule commitments and must be able to review their schedule, the required resources so as to meet the manufacturing production requirements. The Mechanical Project Engineer is to assist the Program Manger in resolving mechanical technical compliance issues as they arise. The Mechanical Project Engineer must fulfill a dual reporting mechanism: reporting functionally to the Director of Estimating and Planning whereby being held accountable for project budget and schedule compliance; also performing project related activities while supporting the Program Manager., Qualified applicants must have as a minimum a B.S. Engineering/Mechanical plus a minimum of 5 years of broad based ship design experience (or exhibit the Engineering Experience associated with a technical background commensurate with an “all up” ship design project). The Mechanical Project Engineer must have a minimum of 5 years of supervisory or management experience with groups in the 10+ range. Additional supervisory and or management degrees are a plus. Years of experience in ship design must include a familiarity with regulatory body requirements associated with the Ship Building industry (i.e. ABS, 46 CFR, IEEE, and The U.S. Coast Guard)
