Job Description: POSITION NUMBER: A250 START DATE: February 1, 2013 ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The University of Wisconsin - Green Bay seeks an Assistant Director for the University Union and Shorewood Golf Course. The position of Assistant Director - Business/Retail will report to the Director of the University Union. As one of three Assistant Directors, this position will lead vital business and retail operations that generate significant revenue and social/recreational activities for the department and the University. This position requires an individual with a strong personality and one with creativity and flexibility at the forefront. The ideal candidate will be an excellent problem solver and diligent at both daily/routine tasks as well as project management. The position of Assistant Director - Business/Retail will include the following responsibilities: * Supervise and manage the University Ticketing and Information Center, Phoenix Club recreation and restaurant operation, and the Shorewood Golf Course's restaurant and pro shop. * Coordinate and assist with the cooperative planning of programs and events in the University Union, with an emphasis on venue-based programming and building-wide theme/event programming. * Assist the Director with vending and banking services contract(s) including delivery of services, equipment placement, care, product stocking and pricing, service, and technological support. * Serve as a support contact for all non-University Union departments that reside within the University Union, including the Phoenix Bookstore, Digi Copy, Office of Student Life, American Intercultural Center, student organizations, and more. * Develop and update new and existing policies and procedures guiding business operation aspects of the Union. * Perform all duties of a professional student services advisor related to the mission and role of the college union., SPECIAL NOTES: The University Union and the many operations within are open nearly every day of the year (closed on a few holidays). The operations often open at 7am daily (or earlier) and remain open until late in the evening (11pm most days) including hours on weekends and holidays. The work hours are not confined to the traditional 8:00am-4:30pm Monday-Friday time period but remain flexible to ensure being attentive to working when the need is most appropriate. Education Required: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: * Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Student Personnel, or related field at time of application * Three years of experience in a college, hospitality, retail, or comparable work environment * A mentoring and development philosophy consistent with the ideals of the Role and Mission of the University Union PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: * Master's Degree in Business Administration, Higher Education Administration, or comparable field * Five to seven years of experience in university or college auxilliaries, student union, or comparable environment
