Job Description: The Terrestrial Invasive Plant Intern will assist in the implementation of the Shawano County Invasive Species Management Program. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to identifying and estimating overall density of all invasive species present in county highway rights-of-way, marking infestations with a GPS unit, creating an invasive species distribution map with ArcGIS software and developing best management practices for the Shawano County Highway Department. All job duties must be completed for academic credit as a portion of a college degree.

Experience Required: Applicants should have a strong knowledge in invasive species identification, prevention, control, and laws. A similar knowledge in native Wisconsin ecosystems is also required. Proficiency with ArcGIS software is required and experience using hand-held GPS is preferred. Enthusiasm, friendliness and ability to communicate effectively are essential. Applicants must be motivated self-starters who can work independently in a variety of weather conditions.
